I was spoiled with gifts yesterday and I really didn’t expect it. Oh, I was hoping for one gift, but I thought that the entire family would all pitch in to give it to me. But I guess they had other plans. And I’m not complaining.
Actually, a few of the gifts made me chuckle.
Have you heard of a skin care line called Wise Woman? I think that’s a politically correct way to say ‘Old Woman’. Anyway, it’s from Body Shop and it promises to smooth out lines and firm up wrinkles …yada yada yada.. we shall see, won’t we? No harm in trying, right? Nice product, though!
My kids LOVE waffles. I’ve owned a few waffle irons in my day , but the last one was a complete DUD. I bought it used, but looked brand new. Well, the batter stuck to it, no matter how much I greased the thing. So, I disposed of it (or did I give it away to some unsuspecting stranger in my ‘for the mission’ pile? ) Now I’m the proud owner of a state of the art Cuisinart Traditional Waffle Iron. It makes 6 at a time and it has settings for how light or dark one prefers the waffles to be. Fancy schmancy. I’d say that was a sneaky gift, wouldn’t you? I guess our Sat. a.m. family brunches will be featuring waffles for the next little while. I’m quite excited about the recipe booklet that accompanied this gift. I didn’t realize there were so many different types of waffles…
apple walnut, chocolate brownie (WHAT?) , pumpkin walnut, chocolate buttermilk (!), super multigrain, savoury cheddar chive cornmeal (egads!), vanilla yogurt pecan (sounds delish).. and more! I’d say some of those sound more like desserts to and yes, I will be testing them.
I also received a lovely chenille throw … something I actually was thinking of buying. I love wrapping myself in blankets when I’m chilled, so that was a GREAT idea!
And my dear husband spoiled me rotten. Yes, I now have a Kindle! It seems the children were a little resistant to me receiving yet another e-gadget, but Love Won! ;) Reading books on my iTouch has strained the eyes just a tad, so it will be GREAT to read ebooks on this. I wonder if that really means I won’t be taking a bag full of books along when I travel, anymore? That will definitely be an adjustment. Will I miss the smell and feel of a paper book, and highlighting passages with a pencil? Well, to be honest, it’s not like I won’t acquire regular books anymore. Just not as many, and since Dave thinks there are way too many bookshelves in this house, he will be pleased to hear that! And borrowing library books..well, that’s not going to end anytime soon.
Really, I sure don’t need things to make me feel loved, but I’m thankful to be thought of and for the generosity of my family, that’s for sure!
