I don’t know what it is the last few days, but I’ve come across a lot of people talking about good food. Last night on TV (PBS) I watched The French Chef with Julia Child. She was really very entertaining to watch, and although I would never make what she was demonstrating how to cook – Boullabaise – a soup made of all sorts of fresh fish and shellfish (eep!), it did inspire me to get a little more creative with my cooking. You could just feel her enthusiasm for cooking! Then today Oprah revisited a few of her favorite guest cooks demonstrating how to make all manner of delicious recipes, including a great simple pasta by Jamie Oliver. And of course, my mom’s good home cooking has whetted my appetite, as well.
So, I think I’m going to do a stint of 30 days without repeating the same recipe twice.. beginning in January. Anyone want to join me? We could give this challenge a sweet name and every day we’d post the meal we prepared and then rate it. :) Now, wouldn’t that be a lot of fun?
And I’ll leave you with a pic of some ground meat cooking away for a shepherd’s pie I made last month… I didn’t tell the kids until after they ate it that it was ….moose….courtesy of my generous hunting neighbour Nancy.
30 days without repeating a recipe? Yikes! I'm afraid that I'm not up for that particular challenge.
ReplyDeleteYour moose Shepherd's Pie sounds delish! I once made it with lamb and that was scrumptious too.
Does the meal actually have to HAVE a recipe? As in...my chili or spagetti sauce - I just throw stuff together. Does thrown-together stuff count? I MIGHT be in then :)
ReplyDeleteMaureen, I'm open to whatever! We get to make the rules, so 'throwing stuff together' works for me. :) Also, we are allowed to eat leftovers, too, so it's not really 30 different recipes, but 30 days without using the same recipe. I think it's doable..hopefully it'll encourage us to try some new ones..
