Up Up and Away

Yes, I’ve flown the coop. As you are reading this, I am in the lovely province of Alberta, visiting my parents and other family in Sherwood Park. Now that Westjet flies out of Kamloops, it makes it that much easier. I had the privilege of flying on a plane that’s 4 days old!!! Brand spanking new. Well, it really wasn’t THAT great because a) they haven’t had time to install the TV’s yet, and b) I managed to pick the row where the seats don’t recline (right in front of the emergency exit). Duh.. and c) The flight did take 3.5 hours (stopover in Calgary)– the flight usually takes 1 hour from Kelowna – but still, I love not having the hassle of driving for 2 hours first.

I hope to continue my NaBloPoMo, and complete the 30 days of blogging without missing once. We shall see. So far things don’t look promising. The wireless network is not working at the moment, so if you read this, that means it’s been repaired or I’m using my dad’s computer that doesn’t rely on wireless.

…..hours later….. after tech support adventures………

Yes… back on the ‘puter!

What I love about visiting my parents:

  • hugs
  • TIME with my mom and dad
  • the best dutch cooking this side of Holland!
  • Mom’s boterkoek. Oh. My. Word. (I think I ate a record number today, unfortunately)
  • dropjes!! If I had my camera cord, I could show you the big box of dutch licorice Mom brought back from Holland for me!
  • time to knit and chat with Mom
  • seeing my sibs and their families
  • seeing the flatlands of Alberta again..brings back sentimental thoughts of when we lived here and the kids were so little and I had relatives close enough to pop in for a cup of coffee
  • getting to pamper my mom with foot massages and toenail painting

And there’s no snow!!! Well, a skiff,maybe.. and it’s MILD WEATHER!!!  I took my winter jacket…what was I thinking?
