The entire family headed out to the Shuswap yesterday for my birthday celebration. Going to the lake and just enjoying each others’ company, eating, playing games, going for a short hike, swimming, laughing. Well, I couldn’t have asked for a better gift!
The weather in our neck of the woods has been unbelievably beautiful lately. Clear skies and hot! It’s hard to get back into Fall activities when it’s still summer!
We spent time playing some crazy bouncy ball game with a small blue nerf ball. Amazing how something so inexpensive and simple can bring such simple pleasure! I love it when young adults show their ‘kid at heart’ side.
Some of us went for a walk and hiked up to see the waterfall in the area. Of course, the boys had to toss the bouncy ball along the trail the entire time, losing and retrieving it more than just a few times. Once they reached Margaret Falls, they decided to ‘see what would happen’ if they threw the ball up into the crashing water. Well, it disappeared into the ‘cave’ behind the wall of water. Which was what Mike was hoping would happen, I’m sure. In no time at all, he scrambled up into the cave and returned with ball in hand. The spectators, of course, were laughing and commenting the entire time. Mike even had a conversation with an old school teacher who was telling him she was writing a children’s book about this waterfall and the mysterious cave. She peppered him with questions. He told her the cave only goes back 8 feet—not a lot of room for mystery!
The day ends. But what a glorious one it was.
Happy Birthday!!!
