Play while you play… as the children’s poem goes.
Lately, I’ve been thinking of ways to keep myself focusing on the task at hand, not an easy thing to do for those like me who have a lot of interests on the computer.
No, I don’t think they are a waste of time, but they certainly CAN be if I let myself get carried away.
So, after contemplating this predicament, I decided that I will use my desk top computer primarily for work related activities. No reading or writing blogs on THAT one. No reading e-newsletters and such. That will be saved for my laptop or my itouch.
My laptop is for PLAYTIME. reading, blogging, journaling, researching interesting topics, and watching movies. Nothing to do with WORK.
I only use it for work when it accompanies me to work- related meetings (carrying the desk top around doesn’t make a lot of sense!).
I think this will keep me from flitting from one thing to another, making me feel like I have ADD!
So far, I think it’s working. I have felt more productive this week AND it feels really good to step AWAY from the desktop.
It’s not a bad idea. Even one of my favorite thinkers had similar thoughts.
One thing each time,
And that done well,
Is a very good rule,
As many can tell.
Moments are useless
Trifled away;
So work while you work,
And play while you play.
