Valentine’s Day always seems to be more about the woman, don’t you think? It’s almost like we feel entitled to being made a fuss over. We hear about it everywhere.
Get her chocolates!
Buy her flowers!
Remember to give her a mushy card!
Surprise her with dinner!
And this has led me to consider the guy on this Valentine’s Day. If a man’s home is his castle, it might be nice to focus on him and treat him like a king once in a while. Make him feel special. Let him know he’s pretty terrific. I believe doing this will help us women to get our eyes off of ourselves, and what we are going to get out of this special day (or any day). Besides, when we give, we receive, anyway. So this is a win/win situation!
I don’t know about you, but I don’t think I purposefully appreciate my guy often enough. How about you? Do you have special plans for your man on or around Valentine’s Day?
Every year I make special cookies for Jay (and everyone else too). In fact, that is what I am doing as soon as I get off the computer.
ReplyDeleteNot to toot my own horn, but I treat Gary like a king all the time. (And he would back me up on that statement.) Of course, that makes it a little more difficult to spoil him on special occasions like Valentine's Day. But I did buy him a really nice card and I might make something special for dinner on Monday.
ReplyDeleteValentine's is one of my favorite holidays, right after Thanksgiving. I decorate slightly to excess, and everyone here knows it. :)
ReplyDeleteI love it!
We had four couples over for dinner tonight (Sat). The wives tried to spoil the men by bringing something delicious to share for dinner. It worked! Lots of fun with games, decorations and music. I just might have a St. Patrick's Day party, it went so well!
ReplyDeleteHhmm, I like Heather's idea - do you mind if I steal it? Not sure if I can pull it off at such a late date but... I have been trying to think of what to do. Dan definitely felt neglected this past week!! =\
ReplyDeleteWell, V Day is technically Matt's "job." (Our anniversary is mine.)
ReplyDeleteBut I still got him a card and chocolate!
I think you bring up an interesting point. This year at our house, Valentine's Day is more about the kids, but now that I've read this, I'm going to try to think of something nice I can do for Mark.
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day!!!
What a great thing to write about on Valentine's Day! I've often thought that the holidays can be a bit more "woman-centered"...and I don't know about you, but my man certainly wouldn't like to get flowers...!:) So, this year...I blogged about him!:) Does that count?...
