There are a few reasons why this was a super fantastic “Kossy Sibs” getaway.
The resort- our suites were in the building in the distance, 5th and 6th floor; HUGE suites that ran the width of the building; we had a huge deck that wrapped around to the oceanside (to the right). Great views!

The bus stop right across the street:
View from our 5th floor balcony:

Beach time at the resort; Most people sat around the pool all day, so we pretty well had the beach to ourselves:

Spending time exploring little seashore villages was definitely a highlight. The only way in and out was by boat. Here we are on our way to Yelapa.

Almost every evening we ventured into the city by bus to enjoy a hearty meal. Authentic Mexican cuisine is so yummy! My favorite discovery – Tortilla Soup. Here at Brujo’s, we were serenaded by a father/son guitar duo. Great music!
Mango Icecream – the best!

We girls were spoiled by our brothers. They treated us to one hour massages near a little village called Mismaloya -- an outdoor massage shop only steps away from a walking path along the ocean.! Thin curtains blowing in the breeze were the only barrier between us and the tourists walking by! A bit of a stretch! Relaxing music, aromatherapy, and the sound of real waves rushing into shore!

They also paid for us to go snorkelling and boating to Los Animes, one of the little villages located along the ocean (south of Puerto Vallarta). We also spent several hours on our own private beach! Paradise!
Turtle Island, one of the snorkelling areas..

Our hired skipper fed bread to the fish to bring them up to the surface, then told us to jump in. Egads! Quite a neat experience, though!
After we had had our fill of snorkelling, he dropped us off at Los Animes, where we spent several hours enjoying the food at the outdoor restaurant; then we hiked over to our own private beach. Wow.

Good bye, Puerto Vallarta!
The years have indeed flown by. I remember being young adults together, and then one by one, we found our marriage partners and did the ‘leaving and cleaving’ thing. And now to have had the opportunity to relax together for an entire week… what a gift! And to have the support of our spouses…I’m sure when the winter storm or life’s daily grind was in full swing last week, it was hard for them not to be envious thinking of us sitting by the oceanside, enjoying cold drinks, and good conversation. So, a big thank you to all of them!

This was definitely a trip of a lifetime, and one I will not soon forget!
Looks and sounds like a really wonderful trip!
ReplyDeleteI've never been able to understand people who go somewhere tropical and then sit by the pool instead of going to the beach. I'm definitely a beach girl too!
Those are amazing pictures! It sounds like it was a great time. But you have left me wondering about the "what happens in Mexico stays in Mexico stories!"
ReplyDeleteLooks like a ton of fun. And I love your new blog template too.
ReplyDeleteThose are amazing memories to treasure. You are a blessed girl! =)
ReplyDeleteComing back to coldness probably was difficult. Looks like a great time!

ReplyDeleteWhat great photos! You will have to send me your pictures because I don't think Mark took a camera with him and if he did, he didn't take any pictures on it. I'd like to scrapbook it someday.
ReplyDeleteSeeing your pictures gave me a better idea of how to imagine what Mark has described.
I am glad that you were able to have such a relaxing and fun vacation and happy for all of you that you had that time together. My hope is that my kids are as close to their siblings someday as you all are.
Hey Neet! Nice choice of pics. It definitely was a unique trip and ranks as one of my "best ever" getaways. Spending time with you and the rest of the sibs was awesome. I'm lucky to have a sister like you!
ReplyDeleteGood job sis! It sure was a memory I'll never forget - especially that time when you .... Oh ya, I almost forgot - what happens in Mexico ... :-)
