Simple and special

“Don’t you just LOVE birthdays!!?”, my friend asked me.
“Actually, not really.” I answered truthfully. For better or worse, birthdays sometimes bring unspoken and even unrealistic expectations. And with that comes the risk of disappointment.  I’m sure we’ve all been there. So, I guess for that reason, I like my birthdays kept simple. Not too much fuss.
Not that I don’t want to be remembered, mind you. It’s just that  as the years pass, I  feel less need for any hoopla when it comes to my day.  I’m just thankful to be alive and  I’m always very grateful that my family remembers and spends time with me. When I am given gifts and birthday greetings, of course, I feel special. And that is  a really good feeling.

So, yes, I did feel special today.
I was remembered.
My friend took me out for lunch and gave me this lovely gift. She didn’t even know that I collect tea pots!
My eldest son brought over supper for all of us! I didn’t have to cook! Yay!
Our entire family played bocce in the backyard. Dave and I kept the kids in awe of us..we won--both games  !
I am blessed!
