In the details

The countdown to Mike and Katie’s wedding begins! Well, actually, we’ve been counting down for awhile, but now people are starting to arrive and festivities are beginning. Most of the wedding party girls and guys are converging on this town tonight, fun activities start tomorrow (the girls are going river rafting!) , and then they all head over to Vernon tomorrow.

And I’m feeling at loose ends and somewhat distracted (hence the blogging when I could be doing other more important things).  I am feeling a little nervous and a little excited. Trying to keep calm, though. And focused!

I am so thankful for the way everything is coming together so far. God really is in the details, and I’m thankful that He is.

1. Katie’s sister (who was married in the States earlier this year) has been waiting for important documents that would let her back into the States after the wedding. It usually takes many months for this to happen. The papers were couriered yesterday (after many calls and visits and special applications, but there was no guarantee it would happen).! A HUGE sigh of relief!!

2. My dear aunt succumbed to cancer this past week, and her memorial service is scheduled for this weekend. Her hometown is only an hour away from where the wedding will be, so thankfully, all my family that is coming to the wedding will also be able to make it to the memorial service. One trip for my elderly parents  from out of province, instead of two. It will be a weekend of varied emotions, though … especially for my mom, who was very close to her sister. But I’m so thankful that she (and her siblings)  will be surrounded by family.  I’m also thankful that Mike and Katie are getting married on a Sunday, so there is no time conflict.

.. and there have been lots of little details that have to all come together to make this celebration happen. A few more and we will be set.

I am praying that the weather will be cooperative on Sunday. It’s been a strange mix of warm and cool, wet and dry lately. We are hoping for warm and dry – at least for the photo shoot!

No matter what, I know it will be a special day! Looking forward to reuniting with family and friends!
