"This world is not my home, I'm just a-passin' through"
I think those are the lyrics of some old gospel song of yesteryear, and so very true. Helps to keep priorities straight, too. Not to get too wrapped up in the things of this world.
Even though I am just a-passin' through, do you think it's alright if I dream a little about the kind of home I'd like here on earth? It goes without saying (but I'll say it anyway) that I feel blessed to live where I do, and have the home I do have. But sometimes one dreams. Lately we've been talking about selling our home and building a brand spanking new one on another property that we purchased for investment purposes. Who knows if it will really happen?
Anyway, here's a list of a few things I'd include, if I had my way, as part of the house we'd dream up:
- a large open kitchen/living room area
- a walk- in pantry in the kitchen
- an island in the kitchen
- lots of pull out drawer storage under the counters
- a wrap around deck off the kitchen and living room
- a hot tub on the deck
- a big master bedroom with an ensuite
- a finished basement that includes a multipurpose room, a laundry room, a guest room and a bathroom
- a detached garage/workshop
- a suite above the garage (okay, now I AM dreaming!) for guests or family
- a big yard (but low maintenance) with lots of room for the grandkids to come and play
- my own 'office/hobby' room away from the main living area
- a wood stove/pellet stove to keep things cozy in the winter
Dreaming on...
Oh, did I miss anything?
Oh my goodness....had to wipe my mouth after reading this. ;) Lovely! Not sure but the walk-in pantry sounds the best to me. My cabinets are woefully lacking in our kitchen.
ReplyDeleteKeeping talking and dreaming. You might get it afterall. :)
Would your office be a loft with a window wall view of the ocean like mine would have? Piped-in surround sound, too? You do know "without a dream the people perish..." right?

Melissa, you gave me a chuckle there!
ReplyDeleteOh, Sue, I didn't dare request a loft.. but you're right, in my dreams, there would be one..with surround sound!!
Being a nearly 71-y-o Maine native retired in West Texas, I'm ready to dream of leaving the kitchen behind and heading straight to a floor-to-ceiling bookcase library style oceanside view loft that includes the afore-mentioned acoustics for soothing piano music playing in the background. Now that's a dream...
