On my way home from a meeting the other night, I heard an interview on CBC with a world renowned musician. I can’t remember much of it, actually, except for this quote:
It is easier to achieve the impossible than the difficult.
Do you think that’s true? Does it make sense to you?
Wow! That's a real mindbender first thing in the morning. I'll have to give that some more thought.
ReplyDeleteI suppose people often set out to do the "impossible" with detirmination and micro-goals, etc, which are steps towards success...while when we come up against ordinary difficult things, we tend to try to side-step them because it is not something we want, or try to accompish.
ReplyDeleteGood thoughts, PJ. People may put more effort into accomplishing the impossible.
ReplyDeleteWell, here's my two bits' worth...another view, entirely.. if something is impossible to do, then you have given up that YOU can do it,therefore it's easy (no effort); no one has any expectations of you accomplishing it, so the pressure is off. In other words, the impossible needs a MIRACLE. BUT if you are attempting to do a difficult thing, it takes just plain hard work, persistence, discipline, practice, energy, etc.. which makes it very difficult. And of course, there are the expectations others have of you, which puts even more pressure on you.
That's my philosophical ramble for the day.
