So, how do you feel about sneezing or coughing into your upper arm or crook of your elbow? Better than into your hand or a kleenex?
I don’t really enjoy sneezing into my clothing. For one thing, if particles or tidbits of ew-ness get expelled, there is nothing I can do about it. There it clings, in all of its yukkiness, until I get home and get changed. Now, if I sneezed or coughed into my hands, I could go to the bathroom and wash it off with soap and water. Or pull a wipe or kleenex out of my purse and get rid of it that way.
Which leads me to another question. Churches may be a hotbed of germs, what with all the handshaking that goes on during greeting time. Have you considered that? Do you sneak your hand sanitizer out of your pocket or purse after the greeting time? Should there be bottles of it available in the foyer to keep those pesky germs at bay?
Just wondering.
I believe this is what Jill refers to as "un-lurking".
ReplyDeleteI detest greeting time for that exact reason. I always try to find things to keep my hands occupied. Seldom seems to work out unfortunately. Shaking hands with people I don't know has really always disgusted me. Flu season being here as well makes my life an almost OCD-esqe struggle to not freak out when people grab my hands.
So, I'm not the only one, M. Thanks for posting! I think people should just do the side hug at church! ;)
ReplyDeleteE Free Church keeps hand sanitizer in every row of chairs! And people were using it.
ReplyDeleteI actually welcome the germs and the dirt. You've got to keep your immune system busy to keep it strong! It's like exercise right?
ReplyDeleteGood point to consider, Danica. That's why I'm opposed to antibacterial cleansers... Super Bug and all.. but sanitizing is different. I'm not against sanitizing.
ReplyDeleteAs a cook we were trained to sneeze into our shoulders. No time for hand washing.
ReplyDeleteShaking hands doesn't gross me out too bad...I tend to not think about germs much. Its clammy hands that get me.
