Good things come…

..to those who wait for a good deal.

I took a look through Value Village today, and lo and behold, there was a set of 4 bowls identical to the set of plates I found  probably a year ago! I snapped them up quickly.  You never know when the right kitchen item will show up. or how long it will be there.

I also happily came upon a great pair of casual shoes that fit me perfectly. I wasn’t even planning to look for those, but I did need them.

And I picked up a few other items of clothing.

I have also been hunting for a long sweater and thought I had found the perfect deal. An older woman shopping near me, glanced over and said, “Oh, it’s not my business, but that looks wonderful on you!”  I mentioned I thought it was a bit too large, but she shook her head. “It’s perfect!”.

A few minutes later  Jill walked towards me , scanned my attire, gave me the look and shook her head . Translation: Lose the sweater, Mom.

“Are you sure?”  I inquired. I really WANTED  a long sweater, and had been looking for a while.

“It looks like you’re wrapped in a shapeless blanket.”   Needless to say, Jill’s words hold more sway with me than a stranger. I took the sweater off and placed it back on the rack. Poop.

So, I’m still waiting for that great sweater deal.

  3. I had a similar sweater shopping experience with my girls recently. Good thing we have daughters to help us out, eh?

  4. Yeah - I would trust Jill's opinion over the stranger's since it will be Jill that has to be embarrassed to be seen with her mom wearing the shapeless blanket! That's really cool about the bowls...I am missing some plates from our set. I never even thought to look at Value Village for them.
