Multitude Monday

Lots to be thankful for, if we only sit and think a bit.
The Olympics!! For determination, teamwork, and support! We are excited about the Olympics in this house.. how about you? Of course, one of the main reasons is that it’s being held pretty well in our own backyard -- in the  picturesque city of Vancouver (only 3 hours away).  And we won our first GOLD medal (of this Olympics and on home soil) yesterday. (Go Canada!)  It couldn’t have gone to a more deserving athlete!

Pet Companionship – my cat doesn’t ask for a lot, and he is crazy about me. How can I not like that?
Sunshine – always thankful when that sun comes out!
Words – books, cards, spoken… what would life be like without them?
Laughter – it truly is the best medicine!

A Merry Heart

giftsgraphic
I am attempting to post something I’m thankful for, each and every Monday, as part of the 1000 Gifts or Multitude Mondays challenge. Today I will be  focusing on cheerfulness.
I am so thankful for the activities and people  in my life that bring me laughter and merriment. I am naturally a more introspective person and tend to see all the things that are NOT going well in my life, so I guess that’s why I so value the people and things around me that make me LAUGH. And belly laughs – well, those are in a category all their own.

So, I'm thankful especially for my children who all have very good senses of humour. I don't think a week goes by that we don't all have a good laugh at the table. It's sometimes at my expense, but oh well, that comes with growing older and having young adult children who think they never will be!  So 'old people' jokes are quite common around here. (Good thing I have a fairly good sense of humour).

I have to say that my younger sister takes the cake on making me laugh. I can’t help but chuckle constantly when I’m around her.  She is one of those rare people that can laugh in the face of all kinds of adversity. And she brings all those around her along for the ride!

I respect that a lot. How many of us laugh when things are going well, but droop like Eeyore when life stinks? I guess I could put my hand up ever so hesitantly, most of the time.  My goal is to become a woman who is genuinely content and happy despite my circumstances.  It’s a journey, one day, one circumstance at a time.
So, thanks goes out to all  who in their own unique way  contribute to proving that  “a merry heart does good, like medicine!” (Prov. 17:22)

Multitude Monday

Great Kindness
A grateful man bows before You to thank You Lord
In silent tears for there is so much to thank You for
I have nothing, nothing if not for You
How can I repay You?
What can I ever give back to You?
I always will remember Your great kindness
In desperate need I cried out,
You delivered me My soul from death,
My feet from stumbling
My eyes from tears
I will lift up salvation's cup
And call Your name
I have everything, yet nothing
If not for You

Multitude Monday

Today I'm grateful for:

1. Fall! -- I think it's the most beautiful of the seasons, even thought it means winter is coming! It also reminds me that though circumstances change all around me, the steadfast love of God never does. Thankfully!

2. Music -- I don't think I could live without it.  Playing on  iTunes right now... a Genius Mix... great!

(Can you guess who this group is?)

3. my iPod! - on my walks, runs, before I go to sleep, when I wake up, in my car.
