It’s no secret that I’ve colored my hair for the last 10 years or so, initially just for the fun of it – I went really RED the first time (it wasn’t my idea, but I liked it)! Now, I color partly to cover the grey…yes, I do have a little grey, not a lot, but enough to bother me. If it grew in evenly, it wouldn’t be so bad. But if I let it do what comes naturally, I would have a nice little grey Kippah (skull cap) to display. So, I get it colored – usually a few colors foiled in.
The last time I had it done, the grey coverage lasted a mere 2 weeks! This time I decided I was going to do-it-myself. I decided I wanted to go darker this time. I’ve been reddish blonde my entire life, and even when I’ve had my colorist darken my hair, it’s hardly been noticed by the man or the boys. The girl—usually she notices, even if it’s subtle. Girls are different that way, I guess. But truthfully, it’s never been a big change.
Last night, spur of the moment, daughter and I decided to zip to the drug store and pick up some hair color.
Well, today I am no longer blonde. I asked my husband point blank-is this dark blonde or light brown? He said light brown!!! That means success in my books. What’s more, I like the change! The only problem is…when that grey returns to claim its rightful place, will it be super noticeable? I hadn’t thought of that.
Can't wait to see it -- and spend some time with you! Miss you my friend.
ReplyDeleteA few years ago I went with my daughter to buy some hair colour for my hair (i was mid 40's). I picked out a medium brown and my daughter picked out an auburn for me. As I was contemplating on which # to buy the drug store girl came up & said "you can mix those two colours together if you can't decide". So, ever since I've been mixing the two colours and often get compliments :)
